AIR CONDITIONING TAX CREDITS & REBATES

Manufacturer Rebates

Many manufacturers offer rebates to promote their products year round. There are no manufacturer rebates available at this time.

Federal Rebates

The Non-Business Energy Property Tax Credits outlined below apply retroactively through 12/31/2022. Updates will be applied for 2023 and remain effective through 12/31/2032.

Tax Credit:  10% of cost up to $500 or a specific amount from $50-$300.
Expires:  December 31, 2022
Details:  Must be placed in service in an existing home which is your principal residence by December 31, 2022.  New construction and rentals do not apply.

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps that are ENERGY STAR certified meet the requirements for this tax credit.

Tax Credit Amount: $300

Split Systems >=8.5 >=12.5 >=15
Package Systems >=8 >=12 >=14

Central Air Conditioners

Air conditioners recognized as ENERGY STAR Most Efficient meet the requirements for this tax credit. To verify tax credit eligibility, ask your HVAC contractor to provide the Manufacturer Certification Statement for the equipment you plan to purchase

Tax Credit Amount: $300

Utility Rebates

Many utility companies offer rebates to encourage homeowners to install high efficiency heat pump systems. The rebates vary depending on the existing system and the efficiency of the replacement system.

Duke Energy

Rebate Period: Ongoing

Duke Energy rebates are applied for by the licensed contractor. The rebate will be credited to your electric bill. This usually takes 2-3 billing cycles.

TECO

Rebate Period: Ongoing

TECO rebates are applied for and paid to the licensed contractor. The amount of the rebate is deducted from the invoice total at the time of purchase.
